Roosevelt “Clutch” Northern, Jr., Ed.D.
 
Dr. Northern joined the voluntary Armed Forces of the United States as a Vietnam Era Veteran on November 29, 1976. He has been involved in several forward deployed naval campaigns with his last one during Desert Storm/Provide Comfort 1989-90. In his wartime involvement he was awarded the Navy Achievement Award during the Persian Gulf War(1990). Attaining the rank of ATO1(AW)-Aviation Electronics Supervisor-Aviation Warfare First Class Petty Officer. Throughout his career in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Northern earned four Naval Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Medal, the Southeast Asian Medal. He qualified as an expert marksman with the 9MM and  a “Sharpshooter” qualification with the M14 rifle. Retiring on 26May1996.
 
As an educator and administrator; Dr. Northern has instructed in educational pedagogy from third grade in the Orange County Public School (OCPS) system to community colleges in the Central Florida corridor. In 1999, he received a Walt Disney “Top Program” Teacherrific Mouse award for his work in instructing Mathematics to fifty-four urban youth at Orange Center Elementary School. In 2000, he was voted Teacher of the Year at this same school.  He now seeks to mentor Afro-American males.
 
In 2005, Dr. Northern was slated as the Assistant Principal at Canoe Creek Charter Academy located in Saint Cloud, Florida. He has been an adjunct professor at Polytechnic Institute of America (2005-07) and at the Florida Technical College (2007) at the Florida Mall. He began his entrepreneurial plight as a business-owner on October 22, 2002. He now owns NE Group, Inc. of Northern Florida and a public charity-501©3 in A V.E.T.S.C.A.R.E., Inc. Dr. Northern aspires to guide the "uneducable" and less behaved in knowledge and in proper citizenship.

Community involvement: Association for the Supervision of Curriculum Development (ASCD), Soldiers to Scholars, Troops To Teachers. He is a challenging chess player. He coaches in youth athletics as well as Brain-Bowls.
